Information about the evening sea turtle observation session

This is a tour exclusively for summer nights that will make your stay in Yakushima even more special. We follow the rules and watch up close as we watch the mysterious activities unfold at Nagatahama, one of Japan's leading sea turtle spawning sites.

This tour will be held at the sea turtle observation group hosted by the Yakushima Town Ecotourism Promotion Council Sea Turtle Protection and Utilization Specialist Subcommittee and is being held by the Nagata Sea Turtle Liaison Council, which has been working on sea turtle protection for many years. At the observation session, an experienced local guide will guide you to carefully explain the ecology of sea turtles and manners when observing them, and quietly watch the precious sight of the mother turtles from landing to spawning and returning to the sea.
Furthermore, while waiting for the sea turtle to make their way, and after the observation session, you can enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful starry sky that is unique to Yakushima, where there are few lights around.

Note:
Please note that sea turtles and egg-laying events may not always be possible to observe them.

◯Nagata Sea Turtle Liaison Council
The Nagata Sea Turtle Liaison Council is an organization organized in Nagata Ward, and has begun activities to protect a quiet egg-laying environment from tourists visiting to observe sea turtles. He is a member of the Sea Turtle Protection and Utilization Specialist Subcommittee, and he works with various organizations to run the Sea Turtle Observation Society.

◯Tour Guide
This tour will be handled by experienced local guides from Nobuyak Yakushima, a place located in Nagatahama, where many sea turtles land to spawn, and has been active as a specialist shop for sea kayak and eco-tours on Yakushima since 2002.
